Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:
Oversees the analysis, design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of the Clemson Ellucian Banner software systems. Responsible for creating integrations with various vendor systems utilized by the institution. Engages in advanced programming tasks and provides guidance to other developers as necessary. Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
50% - Critical - Advanced Development: Architect and deliver technical solutions for essential Banner Student Systems. Adjust, test, and deploy programs for development initiatives while producing and maintaining technical documentation. Adhere to and enhance development coding standards. Collaborate in the analysis and design of assigned products with stakeholders. Act as a subject matter expert for student systems. Utilize programming skills to mentor team members. Provide estimates for development and design efforts on projects.


20% - Important - Communication and Teamwork: Deliver effective written and verbal communication to both internal and external stakeholders as well as other IT personnel. Ensure timely and precise information is provided to clients as needed for assigned tasks. Employ communication and programming skills to present optimal solutions. Execute technical instructions and requests from department business analysts. Facilitate technical design meetings to confirm requirements and final customer expectations.

20% - Important - System Administrative Support: Acquire knowledge of business rules, technical design, and production requirements of intricate systems. Maintain a focus on user satisfaction when issues arise. Adhere to software development life cycle requirements for coding practices.

10% - Important - On Call Support: Participate in on-call support for complex systems. Analyze logs, execute SQL queries, and interpret error messages to identify failure points. Communicate with clients during the investigation and resolution process. Confirm the completion of resolutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education - A high school diploma along with relevant work experience in modifying and maintaining system programs, designing and developing system software, or testing and debugging system software. An associate's degree or a bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree

Work Experience: 3+ years

Preferred Experience:
Extensive experience with Ellucian Banner 9 and associated systems (e.g., Banner Workflow, DegreeWorks); proficiency in PL/SQL and Grails programming; familiarity with Automic/UC4 job scheduling software is preferred. Experience with API utilization and development, as well as React.js development, is desired. The ideal candidate will have a background in a complex software lifecycle development environment using tools such as the Atlassian suite and Bitbucket, and will be adept at collaborating with business analysts to identify, develop, and test modifications. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.
