Job Summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Engineer to join our team in Newport News, VA. As a Nuclear Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering and technical support for the construction, overhaul, testing, and operations of propulsion and reactor plant components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for the design, development, and implementation of nuclear reactor and propulsion plant systems.
  • Conduct analysis and testing to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement solutions to complex engineering problems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and technical reports.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of quality assurance programs to ensure the highest level of quality and safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related field.
  • Five years of relevant experience in nuclear engineering, including experience with reactor and propulsion plant systems.
  • Knowledge of nuclear and radiation safety principles.
  • Proficient in the use of desktop or personal computers with associated software.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with US Navy or commercial nuclear reactor and/or steam plant operations.

Working Conditions

This position may require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. The ability to climb ladders and tolerate confined spaces and extreme temperature variances is required.
