About the Role

This position will be part of the Aircraft Carrier Engineering Propulsion Machinery Department (E64), which is responsible for leading the US Navy in the design, repair, and modernization of propulsion machinery and piping systems on Aircraft Carriers.

The department's components and systems play a critical role in moving these massive aircraft carriers, directly supporting the mission readiness of these US Navy assets, which defend our country's freedom and provide humanitarian support around the world.

We are renowned for our expertise in overhauling and repairing the carriers' giant turbines, gears, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, propellers, and shafts.

We work closely with our Trades and Construction Management personnel to plan and support the mid-life nuclear refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) as well as other maintenance periods of these ships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Researches, plans, designs, and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal hydraulic, or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
  • Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with providing engineering services to support the overhaul of US Navy Aircraft Carrier propulsion plant components and systems, particularly main engines and turbine generators.
