Position: Senior Cloud Solutions Architect

Location: Remote (EST working hours)

Duration: 6 + Months (possibility of extension)

Project Overview: This role involves participation in the Oracle ERP Cloud Migration initiative, transitioning from existing ERP systems to Oracle ERP Cloud.

Role Summary:

The Senior Cloud Solutions Architect will collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure comprehensive accountability for the solution, guaranteeing quality project results that align with business requirements and deliver intended value. This position oversees the architecture and design of solutions across a limited range of applications or domains, engaging in projects of moderate size, complexity, and risk. The architect provides extensive cross-functional expertise to facilitate problem-solving. Acting as a consultant on best practices, the Senior Cloud Solutions Architect is responsible for crafting and implementing strategies, architectures, and solutions that adhere to CTO office guidelines. This role involves developing actionable blueprints, principles, models, designs, standards, and guidelines for assigned projects to ensure that the information technology architecture is consistent, usable, secure, and valuable to the business. The position promotes the design and implementation of flexible, scalable, and cost-effective solutions.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant IT field or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience or a combination of transferable skills in technology application design and development.
  • 5-8 years of experience in designing systems/applications architecture on progressively complex IT projects.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with at least one major cloud computing platform such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Oracle Cloud, or IBM Cloud (Oracle Cloud experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with cloud-native services, including compute, storage, database, security, and networking, along with experience in containerization (e.g., Docker), serverless computing (e.g., AWS Lambda), and cloud-based DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
  • Strong architecture and design skills, capable of designing and implementing scalable, secure, and efficient cloud-based systems, with knowledge of architecture patterns such as microservices, event-driven architecture, and service-oriented architecture.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement cross-functional application design strategies, architectures, and platforms to optimize solutions for flexibility, scalability, security, and performance.
  • Enhance software solutions by providing unifying and simplifying concepts, improving work partitioning with reduced dependencies.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate architecture standards, maintaining technology standards and best practices across the organization.
  • Oversee the design solution throughout coding, testing, and production phases, including resolving post-production issues.
  • Engage in governance processes for new technologies and solutions to ensure consistent technology lifecycle management.
  • Contribute to solution estimates and work planning, determining task sequencing and identifying required technical skill sets.
  • Build consensus around application architecture principles and clarify these principles as needed.
  • Participate in project teams, providing insights regarding technology vision, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Assist in evaluating, selecting, and implementing technology solutions, providing detailed analyses of pros and cons and build vs. buy options.
  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical application processes and architectures, collaborating with other architects as necessary.
  • Maintain operational, architectural, and design documentation, including procedures, task lists, and architecture blueprints.
  • Assess strengths and weaknesses in application architecture, focusing on performance, quality, availability, simplicity of design, security, and total cost of ownership.
  • Facilitate project handoffs by preparing documentation and providing education and support for smooth transitions.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with IT and business partners, offering consultation to business teams.
  • Troubleshoot issues and execute action plans for resolution.
  • Select and design tools that promote the reuse of design components and patterns across projects.
  • Participate in issue resolution by removing barriers and guiding development teams toward solutions.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge and experience, benchmarking technology strategies and architectures, and monitoring trends.
  • Promote the implementation of new technologies, solutions, and methods to improve business processes and deliver value to customers.
  • Develop working solutions or prototypes based on personal designs and resolve any arising issues.
Essential Skills:
  • Proficiency in creating progressively complex architectural designs.
  • Strong consulting, negotiating, communication, consensus-building, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to learn from mistakes and apply constructive feedback for performance improvement.
  • Familiarity with various hardware platforms, including mainframes, distributed platforms, desktops, and mobile devices.
  • Understanding of a variety of operating systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and think beyond established standards and processes.
  • Experience with current and emerging technology solutions and trends, including security and regulatory industry requirements.
  • Effective decision-making skills related to architecture and design implementation.
  • Knowledge of Project Management Methodologies.
  • In-depth understanding of application technology development practices.
  • Business process knowledge in key functional areas.
  • Ability to articulate technical information clearly.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology.
