Job Summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at our Cobble Hill location. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures, including specimen processing and handling, testing of patient specimens, and calculating and reporting of results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory tests and procedures in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  • Follow approved policies and procedures for proper recording and reporting of results.
  • Perform and document quality control procedures, including instrument preventative maintenance, function checks, and calibration.
  • Review patient results prior to release to the electronic medical record, correlating final results with known facts concerning patient history and previous values.
  • Communicate critical values and barriers to testing to medical staff according to protocol, documenting according to laboratory policy.
  • Complete assigned proficiency and competency assessments.
  • Maintain sufficient testing supplies in work area, including ordering if directed by lead.
  • Generate and review pending logs.
  • Enter Patient Safety Intelligence (PSI) as required.
  • Participate in the training of new medical technologists/residents at the direction of seniors and lead technologists.
Requirements
  • NYSDOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or Bachelor's Degree in the major of biology, chemistry, or physical sciences from an accredited college or university.
  • One year experience in a clinical laboratory (completion of an internship at a qualified institution is acceptable).
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASCP Certified.
  • Excellent computer knowledge/skill.

The salary range for this role is $91,139.64 - $114,662.48 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
