United Way Miami is seeking an Early Childhood Education Partner to support our mission. As an Early Childhood Education Partner, you will work alongside the Mentor Teacher and Lead Teacher to create a safe and nurturing atmosphere that fosters children's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Child Interaction:

  • Engage with children frequently, demonstrating warmth and respect.
  • Model appropriate behavior and expectations.
  • Remain attentive, adaptable, and supportive of children and their families, employing positive discipline techniques.

Program Implementation:

  • Collaborate with the teacher to execute a reflective curriculum and daily activities that promote balanced learning.
  • Show respect for diversity, independence, and creativity.
  • Assist in documenting children's achievements and conducting observations related to their health, behavior, growth, and development.
  • Help design and implement developmentally appropriate curricula and individualized education plans for each child.
  • Exhibit cultural sensitivity and respect for individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Work with the lead teacher to create an engaging classroom environment that enhances group interactions and constructive play.
  • Understand Head Start performance standards and the Educare model.
  • Seek clarification on I.E.P. or I.F.S.P. goals to ensure proper implementation.
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher in the reflective planning cycle.

Family Engagement:

  • Respond to parents and visitors with friendliness and professionalism.
  • Encourage parental input regarding their child's development.
  • Communicate regularly through conferences, events, and meetings.
  • Participate in home visits for children in your classroom.
  • Share resources with families while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Implement guiding principles in family engagement.
  • Coordinate home visits and conferences to discuss children's individual development.

Data Utilization:

  • Share assessment results with families.
  • Collaborate with the teacher to create plans based on data for individual children.
  • Engage parents in discussions about their child's development assessments.
  • Review overall scores and individual items from screenings and assessments under the lead teacher's guidance.

Health, Safety, and Nutrition:

  • Supervise children while adhering to safety and health regulations.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and accessible environment.
  • Complete necessary paperwork as directed by the classroom teacher.

Professional Conduct:

  • Uphold confidentiality at all times.
  • Attend required meetings and training sessions punctually.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of childcare practices and pursue ongoing professional development.

Team Collaboration:

  • Foster a cooperative and respectful relationship with colleagues.
  • Participate in classroom and center events.
  • Engage in reflective supervision and team meetings to address conflicts professionally.

Decision-Making Authority:

  • Take appropriate action in emergencies but inform the Director of significant incidents.

Physical Requirements:

  • Comply with state and federal guidelines.
  • Ensure children's safety at all times.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds as needed.
  • Supervise and engage with children outdoors.
  • Respond promptly to unexpected situations or emergencies.
  • Maintain mental and physical alertness to fulfill job responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Education: A minimum of an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Bilingual candidates are preferred.

Technology Skills: Proficiency in modern web browsers, Intermediate Word, and basic Excel and Outlook.

Essential Skills: Flexibility, understanding of Visible Thinking, Multiple Intelligence, Dual Language, Inclusion, and Early Literacy strategies.
