Position Overview

Piedmont HealthCare is seeking a dedicated Healthcare Physician Assistant to join our team. This role is pivotal in providing high-quality patient care across various locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment: Evaluate patient health status, ensuring compliance with care plans and determining necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Patient Care: Deliver both acute and chronic care, which includes taking medical histories, conducting physical examinations, monitoring therapies, administering injections and medications, and suturing wounds.
  • Triage and Emergency Response: Manage patient calls, assess problems, and respond effectively to emergencies, including performing CPR when necessary.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and departmental statistics, utilizing computer systems for data entry and retrieval.
  • Patient Education: Provide education to patients and their families, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Collaboration: Work in conjunction with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Confidentiality: Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Must be a graduate of an AMA accredited physician assistant program or an approved nurse practitioner program.

Experience: A minimum of one year as a physician assistant is preferred, or three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting along with two years as a nurse practitioner.

Licensure: Must maintain a valid Physician Assistant license for the state of North Carolina, certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. CPR certification is also required.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Proficient in acute and chronic care protocols and medication administration.
  • Ability to assess patient health and document physiological and growth metrics.
  • Understanding of health promotion principles and patient education techniques.
  • Skilled in gathering and analyzing patient data.
  • Competent in evaluating patient issues and providing appropriate interventions.
  • Capable of adjusting care plans based on patient progress.
  • Able to make informed decisions within the scope of practice.
  • Experience in developing health education resources.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with healthcare teams.
Work Environment

This position will be conducted in medical office and examination room settings, with frequent exposure to communicable diseases and diverse patient interactions.

Physical and Mental Demands

The role requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, and the ability to assist in patient transfers. Candidates should be prepared for occasional stress due to multitasking and managing tense situations, along with the need for full range of motion and manual dexterity.
