Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Operations Manager to join our team at Advocate Health. This is a critical role that requires a strong background in plant operations, engineering, and maintenance management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operations Management: Oversee the planning, operation, repair, and maintenance of heating, cooling, power plant, electrical, emergency power, fire protection systems, plumbing, grounds, and carpentry.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting agency standards and guidelines for facilities operations.
  • Construction Management: Coordinate construction, remodeling, and renovation projects, including managing and communicating scheduled utility interruptions and ensuring contractual provisions and construction schedules are met.
  • Utility Systems Management: Ensure utility systems and equipment are adequate to support healthcare services and develop and implement utility system redundancy plans and emergency procedures.
  • Quality Improvement: Manage Facilities Operations quality improvement through established performance indicators utilizing a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Preventative Maintenance: Plan, develop, execute, and monitor preventative maintenance programs throughout the facility.
  • Human Resources: Perform human resources responsibilities for staff, including interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
  • Financial Management: Develop and recommend operating and capital budgets and control expenditures within approved budget objectives.
Requirements
  • Licensure and Certification: Obtain Health Care Facility Manager (CHFM) certification issued by the American Hospital Association (AHA) within 1 year or Health Care Compliance (CHC) certification issued by the Compliance Certification Board (CCB) within 1 year.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience: Typically requires 5 years of experience in plant or facilities operations, including 1 year of supervisory experience in mechanical and electrical engineering, and/or HVAC.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Advanced knowledge of applicable codes and regulations, intermediate computer skills, excellent communication, organization, prioritization, and time management skills, knowledge of healthcare building construction, and strong desire to help people.
Working Conditions
  • This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Exposed to a normal office environment.
