Key Responsibilities
  • Set up customer profiles in our Point of Sale (POS) system (Scrap Dragon).
  • Regularly update customer information in the POS to ensure accuracy and eliminate duplicates.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, including preparing meeting agendas, filing documents, and managing incoming phone calls.
  • Conduct project-based research, such as identifying potential customers and compiling summary reports.
  • Manage cash register operations or POS transactions, ensuring accurate pricing and secure handling of credit and debit card payments.
  • Welcome customers with a friendly demeanor, addressing their questions and providing information about our recycling services and procedures.
  • Issue receipts or invoices for transactions, maintain precise records of daily cash flow, and reconcile cash at the end of each shift.
  • Keep the cashier area tidy and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Follow company policies regarding cash handling and customer privacy, ensuring compliance with relevant laws.
  • Collaborate with fellow cashiers and team members to ensure efficient operations and assist in training new staff.
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns professionally, escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe cashier area, adhering to safety protocols and reporting any hazards.
  • Perform end-of-day office cleanup, including waste disposal and kitchen organization.
Qualifications and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in cash handling, preferably in a retail or customer service environment.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in operating cash registers or POS systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
  • Knowledge of recycling processes is advantageous.
  • Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Familiarity with office software, including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with customers and team members.
  • Proficient in using computer systems for various operational tasks.
  • Customer service-oriented approach to handling inquiries and complaints.
Work Environment

  • Frequent hand movements, including keyboarding and mouse usage.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Capable of maintaining composure under stress and managing interruptions.
