Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team at St. Barnabas. As a Patient Access Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our call center, providing exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Excellent Customer Service: Treat patients, visitors, and colleagues with professionalism, courtesy, and tact, ensuring that their concerns, questions, or issues are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Adhere to Hospital Policies and Procedures: Familiarize yourself with and adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, including absenteeism, ETIME, cellular telephone usage, dress code, and rules of conduct.
  • Answer Calls in a Timely Manner: Respond to incoming calls in a professional and courteous manner, providing accurate and helpful information to patients and visitors.
  • Schedule Appointments: Schedule appointments as per protocols, ensuring that patients receive timely and efficient service.
  • Verify Patient Information: Electronically verify patient appointments and personal and visit data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Escalate Priority Issues: Identify and escalate priority issues to the appropriate personnel, ensuring that patients receive prompt attention and resolution.
  • Embody the Mission, Vision, and Patient Excellence Values: Demonstrate the standards of performance and behaviors consistent with the DRIVE to Patient-Centered Excellence, embodying the mission, vision, and patient excellence values in all communications.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • License/Certification/Registration(s): N/A.
  • Experience/Skills: Bilingual (Spanish and English) required. 6 months' experience as a registrar preferred. Basic computer skills with knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
