Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at St. Barnabas. As a Patient Access Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration and access of patients to our ambulatory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answering telephone calls in a timely and courteous manner, providing excellent customer service to patients and their families.
  • Electronic verification of patient appointments, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Logging in patients with clinic appointments to corresponding physicians, maintaining accurate records.
  • Verification and entry of personal and visit data, including demographic, emergency contact, insurance information, and other necessary details.
  • Obtaining signatures for patients' consent, HIPAA, and Bronx RHIO, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Verification and entry of insurance information pertaining to patients' accounts, ensuring maximum reimbursement for services rendered.
  • Verification of insurance pertaining to other Managed Care plans, obtaining approvals and/or referrals for patients' visits.
  • Completion of all forms pertaining to patients' registration, including labels, face sheets, medical record forms, etc.
  • Disposition of discharged patients into the computer, separation of work, completion of work on employees' scheduled shift.
  • Scheduling follow-up appointments electronically, ensuring timely and efficient communication.
  • Distribution of metro cards, co-payment, and credit card collection, maintaining accurate records.
  • Completion of end-of-day scheduling process, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Working closely with Health First and other managed care plans in coordinating and evaluating the needs of members.
  • Running daily reports in Relay and QA to ensure 100% accurate registration data at the completion of each business day, addressing any errors.
  • Completing monthly mandatory hospital in-services via HealthStream, staying up-to-date with the latest policies and procedures.
  • Logging in to E-Mail, Relay, QA, and any other necessary program daily, ensuring timely and efficient communication.
  • Performing multiple clerical functions, as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 months experience as a registrar required.
  • PC proficient with knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.
  • Computer skills, including HBO and EMR.
  • Typing skills, at least 45-50 words per minute.
  • Customer Service - pleasant, courteous, tactful, team player.
