Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Investment Accounting Specialist to join our team at the State of Pennsylvania. As an Investment Accounting Specialist, you will play a critical role in developing and enhancing the internal control environment framework of the Annuitant Accounting, Healthcare Accounting & Hybrid Plan Accounting sections in the Office of Financial Management (OFM).

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the internal control environment is comprehensive, complete, documented appropriately, and operating effectively. You will have the opportunity to work in conjunction with other areas in the PSERS organization to develop and maintain a comprehensive internal control framework of PSERS organizational process on an end-to-end basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and enhance the internal control environment framework of the Annuitant Accounting, Healthcare Accounting & Hybrid Plan Accounting sections in the Office of Financial Management (OFM).
  • Ensure the internal control environment is comprehensive, complete, documented appropriately, and operating effectively.
  • Work in conjunction with other areas in the PSERS organization to develop and maintain a comprehensive internal control framework of PSERS organizational process on an end-to-end basis.
  • Organize, interface, coordinate, and respond to internal and external audit requests and documentation needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Two or more years of professional accounting or auditing experience, which includes one or more years of professional investment accounting, investment auditing or investment operations experience.
  • Business-related Master's degree or designation as a Certified Public Accountant may be substituted for one year of general accounting or auditing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more years of relevant internal control experience.
  • Experience or education in financial reporting and/or financial auditing.
  • Experience or education in investment accounting and/or general accounting.
