Position Overview

SAIC is seeking a Senior Linux Administrator to contribute to an IT initiative supporting the United States Marshals Service (USMS). This role involves collaborating with a dedicated team that provides comprehensive computing solutions and expert assistance to our clients and users. The team is responsible for constructing and sustaining user environments, delivering specialized support, and managing application-level software and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work exclusively on-site at the customer location (no remote work)
  • Execute installations and updates for Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Assist clients with application installation and upgrades
  • Install software and resolve installation issues
  • Oversee system performance and conduct hardware troubleshooting, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance along with security updates
  • Ensure adherence to security protocols and standards
  • Perform system backups and facilitate data recovery
  • Document procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Monitor resource utilization, foresee potential issues, and propose solutions
  • Manage both production and development systems, providing Tier III technical support to clients as necessary
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve collective goals and enhance processes
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of systems
  • Conduct configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various Microsoft Windows OS versions
  • Conduct configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various RedHat Linux OS versions
  • Provide software and hardware support to the customer development team
  • Establish and maintain an offsite disaster recovery environment
  • Review system and security logs, reporting incidents or potential threats to the network environment, systems, users, and infrastructure
  • Work with load balancing, failover, and data replication technologies
  • Utilize WSUS, Ivanti, and other industry-standard patching solutions

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree with 9 years of relevant experience (or 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree)
  • Active Secret clearance or higher
  • Ability to thrive in both team-oriented and independent work environments
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices
  • Familiarity with fundamental networking concepts
  • Proactive team player with strong communication skills, capable of engaging with all users and collaborating with technical staff
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure, with a capacity to reassess priorities
  • Strong time and resource management skills
  • Advanced proficiency in various software applications including MS Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Outlook, MS Project, and SharePoint
  • Experience in creating POAM milestones and ensuring compliance with DISA STIG releases and STIG results analysis
  • Ability to interpret IAVAs and remediate issues as necessary
  • Experience in building, operating, and maintaining Windows Server 2019/2022, RHEL 7/8/9 servers, and/or CentOS servers

Desired:

  • Experience with VMWare ESXi, vCenter, and Site Recovery Manager
  • Familiarity with ADFS, Identity Management, PKI Certificates, etc.
  • Knowledge of Cisco Hyperflex technologies
  • Experience in scripting within PowerShell and/or Linux environments
  • Understanding of disk storage systems (RAID, LUNs, etc.)
  • Experience with NetApp storage products and file system technologies
  • Experience managing container environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with code repositories and continuous integration (CI) servers like GitLab, Jenkins
  • Experience managing infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, GPOs
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, HTTP/S, SMTP, Microsoft AD) and understanding of how to support these applications/protocols
  • Possession of computing environment training or certification in Windows Server, Red Hat, NetApp, VMware, Broadcom, or Cisco networking platforms
  • Experience applying DISA STIGs or SRGs, and familiarity with DoD, DoJ, and IC policies and procedures
  • Experience managing Active Directory, configuring, and managing Group Policy Objects (GPO), FSMO roles, DNS, DHCP
  • Administration experience with Microsoft Exchange 2019/2022
