Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a proficient Linux Systems Engineer with cloud experience to support our U.S. Government client in the development, operations, and maintenance of lab environments. This role demands a commitment to delivering exceptional service and ensuring system availability.


Key Responsibilities:
  • System Administration:

    Manage the daily operations of lab environments, including the installation, configuration, and upkeep of Linux operating systems such as CentOS, Ubuntu, and Red Hat.

  • Performance Monitoring:

    Continuously monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resources to maintain high uptime and efficiency. Proactively identify and mitigate potential performance bottlenecks.

  • Security Management:

    Establish and uphold security protocols to safeguard systems against vulnerabilities and unauthorized access.

  • Backup and Recovery:

    Formulate and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for Linux systems.

  • Patch Management:

    Oversee the patching process for Linux servers, ensuring timely updates and compliance with security policies.

  • Automation:

    Create automation scripts using shell scripting (Bash) or Python to enhance operational efficiency and streamline administrative tasks.

  • Collaboration:

    Work alongside cross-functional teams to support project initiatives and resolve technical challenges.

  • Documentation:

    Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing.

  • Technical Support:

    Provide expert technical support for Linux-related issues, ensuring timely diagnosis and resolution to minimize disruptions.


Required Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain DHS Suitability and TS/SCI clearance
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in Linux System Administration
  • Expertise in managing Linux servers (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Strong knowledge of Linux file systems, permissions, and security measures
  • Experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, Lambda)
  • Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN)
  • Experience in network troubleshooting and security measures

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Terraform
  • Experience in shell scripting for automation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Knowledge of U.S. Government IA policies and standards

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Cyber Engineering, or a related field

Certifications:
  • Relevant IT and Information Security certifications (e.g., Splunk, AWS, Cisco, Red Hat)
