Position Overview

SAIC is seeking a Senior Linux Administrator to contribute to an IT initiative at the United States Marshals Service (USMS). This role involves collaborating with a dedicated team that delivers computing solutions and comprehensive support for clients and users. The team is responsible for constructing and sustaining user environments, providing expert-level assistance, and managing application software and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work exclusively on-site at customer locations
  • Execute installations and updates for Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Support clients with application installation and upgrades
  • Install software and resolve installation challenges
  • Oversee system performance and conduct hardware troubleshooting, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance along with security updates
  • Ensure adherence to security protocols and standards
  • Conduct system backups and facilitate data recovery
  • Document processes and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Monitor resource utilization, foresee potential issues, and propose solutions
  • Manage both production and development systems, providing advanced technical support (Tier III) as required
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve collective objectives and enhance operational practices
  • Develop and maintain system documentation
  • Perform configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various Microsoft Windows OS versions
  • Conduct configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of different RedHat Linux OS versions
  • Offer software and hardware support to the customer development team
  • Establish and maintain an offsite disaster recovery setup
  • Review system and security logs, reporting incidents or potential threats to the network environment, systems, users, and infrastructure
  • Utilize load balancing, failover, and data replication technologies
  • Employ WSUS, Ivanti, and other industry-standard patching solutions

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree with 9 years of relevant experience (or 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree)
  • Active Secret clearance or higher
  • Ability to thrive in both team-oriented and independent work settings
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices
  • Familiarity with fundamental networking concepts
  • Proactive team player with strong communication skills, capable of engaging with users and collaborating with technical staff
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure
  • Strong time and resource management skills
  • Advanced proficiency in various software applications including MS Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Outlook, MS Project, and SharePoint
  • Experience in creating POAM milestones and ensuring compliance with DISA STIG releases
  • Ability to interpret IAVAs and address issues as necessary
  • Experience in building, operating, and maintaining Windows Server 2019/2022, RHEL 7/8/9, and/or CentOS servers

Desired:

  • Experience with VMWare ESXi, vCenter, and Site Recovery Manager
  • Knowledge of ADFS, Identity Management, and PKI Certificates
  • Familiarity with Cisco Hyperflex technologies
  • Experience in scripting within PowerShell and/or Linux environments
  • Understanding of disk storage systems (RAID, LUNs, etc.)
  • Experience with NetApp storage solutions and file system technologies
  • Management of container environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with code repositories and continuous integration servers like GitLab and Jenkins
  • Management of infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, and GPOs
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, HTTP/S, SMTP, and Microsoft AD)
  • Certification or training in computing environments such as Windows Server, Red Hat, NetApp, VMware, or Cisco
  • Experience with DISA STIGs or SRGs, and familiarity with DoD, DoJ, and IC policies
  • Experience managing Active Directory, configuring Group Policy Objects (GPO), and handling DNS and DHCP
  • Administration of Microsoft Exchange 2019/2022
