Position Overview

CMDSS is in search of a Senior Linux Administrator for an on-site role. This position involves working closely with a dedicated team that provides comprehensive computing capabilities and specialized support for clients and users. The responsibilities include building and maintaining user environments, delivering expert support, and managing application-level software and tools.
  • Mandatory on-site presence (no remote work)
  • Install and patch Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Assist in the installation and updates of applications
  • Troubleshoot software installation issues
  • Monitor systems and perform hardware troubleshooting, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance
  • Ensure adherence to security protocols and standards
  • Conduct system backups and facilitate data recovery
  • Document processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Monitor resource usage, anticipate issues, and propose solutions
  • Manage production and development systems, providing Tier III technical support as needed
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team objectives and enhance processes
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of systems
  • Configure, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain various versions of Microsoft Windows OS
  • Configure, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain various versions of RedHat Linux OS
  • Provide software and hardware support to the customer development team
  • Establish and maintain offsite disaster recovery environments
  • Review system and security logs, reporting incidents or potential threats
  • Work with load balancing, fail-over, and data replication technologies
  • Utilize WSUS, Ivanti, and other industry-standard patching solutions
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 9 years of relevant experience (or 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree)
  • Active Secret clearance or higher
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and work independently when necessary
  • Understanding of IT security best practices
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts
  • Proactive team player with excellent communication skills, capable of interacting with all users and collaborating with technical staff
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure
  • Strong time and resource management skills
  • Advanced proficiency in various software applications including MS Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Outlook, MS Project, SharePoint
  • Experience in creating POAM milestones and ensuring compliance with DISA STIG releases
  • Ability to interpret IAVAs and remediate issues as necessary
  • Experience in building, operating, and maintaining Windows Server 2019/2022, RHEL 7/8/9 servers, and/or CentOS servers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with VMWare ESXi / vCenter / Site Recovery Manager
  • Knowledge of ADFS / Identity Management / PKI Certificates
  • Familiarity with Cisco Hyperflex technologies
  • Experience writing scripts in PowerShell and/or Linux environments
  • Understanding of disk storage systems (RAID, LUNs, etc.)
  • Experience with NetApp storage products and file system technologies
  • Managing container environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with code repositories and continuous integration servers like Gitlab, Jenkins
  • Managing infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, GPOs
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, HTTP/S, SMTP, Microsoft AD)
  • Possession of computing environment training or certification in Windows Server, Red Hat, NetApp, VMware, Broadcom, or Cisco
  • Experience in applying DISA STIGs or SRGs, and familiarity with DoD, DoJ, and IC policies
  • Experience managing Active Directory, configuring, and managing Group Policy Objects (GPO), FSMO roles, DNS, DHCP
  • Administration of Microsoft Exchange 2019/2022
