Position Overview

SAIC is seeking a Senior Linux Administrator to enhance an IT initiative at the United States Marshals Service (USMS). This role involves collaborating with a dedicated team that provides comprehensive computing solutions and support for our clients and users. The team is responsible for constructing and sustaining user environments, delivering expert-level assistance, and managing application software and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work exclusively on-site at the customer location (no remote work)
  • Install and update Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Assist clients with application installations and updates
  • Install software and resolve installation-related issues
  • Monitor systems and conduct hardware troubleshooting, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance and security updates
  • Ensure adherence to security protocols and standards
  • Perform system backups and facilitate data recovery
  • Document procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Monitor resource utilization, anticipate issues, and propose solutions
  • Manage production and development systems and provide advanced technical support (Tier III) to clients as necessary
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team objectives and enhance processes
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of systems
  • Conduct configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and 9 years of relevant experience (4 years of experience may substitute for a degree)
  • Active Secret clearance or higher
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
  • Understanding of IT security best practices
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts
  • Proactive team player with strong communication skills, capable of interacting with users and collaborating with technical staff
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure, with a focus on prioritization
  • Strong time and resource management skills
  • Advanced proficiency in various software applications including MS Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Outlook, MS Project, and SharePoint
  • Experience in creating POAM milestones and ensuring compliance with DISA STIG releases and analysis
  • Ability to comprehend IAVAs and remediate issues as necessary
  • Experience in building, operating, and maintaining Windows Server 2019/2022, RHEL 7/8/9 servers, and/or CentOS servers

Desired:

  • Experience with VMWare ESXi, vCenter, and Site Recovery Manager
  • Knowledge of ADFS, Identity Management, PKI Certificates, etc.
  • Familiarity with Cisco Hyperflex technologies
  • Experience writing scripts in PowerShell and/or Linux environments
  • Understanding of disk storage systems (RAID, LUNs, etc.)
  • Experience with NetApp storage products and file system technologies
  • Managing container environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with code repositories and continuous integration (CI) servers like GitLab, Jenkins
  • Managing infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, GPOs
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, HTTP/S, SMTP, and Microsoft AD), with an understanding of how to support these applications/protocols
  • Possession of computing environment training or certification in any of the following: Windows Server, Red Hat, NetApp, VMware, Broadcom, or other networking platforms
  • Experience in applying DISA STIGs or SRGs, and familiarity with DoD, DoJ, and IC policies and procedures
  • Experience in managing Active Directory, configuring, and managing Group Policy Objects (GPO), FSMO roles, DNS, DHCP
  • Administration of Microsoft Exchange 2019/2022
