Currently, we have 940 megawatts under construction and are actively expanding our portfolio, which includes over 12,000 megawatts of solar photovoltaic projects and 7,000 megawatts of energy storage solutions.

Position Summary
Urban Grid is in search of a skilled and driven professional to join our team as the Senior Manager of Community Engagement. This role requires a seasoned leader with a background in local community interaction related to renewable energy.

Reporting to the Vice President of Economic & Community Development, the individual will ensure that local government representatives, key stakeholders, and influencers are well-informed about the economic advantages that a utility-scale solar project can provide to rural areas.

This position collaborates with various teams within the organization, including land acquisition, project development, and permitting. As a vital member of the community engagement team, the Senior Manager will guide our projects through a successful permitting journey.

Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement community engagement strategies for priority projects within the Urban Grid portfolio.
2. Foster relationships with local government officials, civic leaders, community influencers, local businesses, and non-profit organizations.
3. Provide timely and relevant insights regarding county-level politics, regulations, and other developments that may impact projects positively or negatively.
4. Regularly report to internal stakeholders on project status and community engagement efforts.
5. Represent Urban Grid at local and state government meetings and industry events.
6. Assist project developers with permitting processes as necessary.
7. Organize and execute local events in collaboration with the Community Engagement team.
8. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Location
Preference for candidates located in the Houston or Richmond areas, with the possibility of hybrid work arrangements considered on a case-by-case basis.

Travel Requirements
Approximately 50% travel is expected for this role.

Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, political science, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in economic development, public relations, community outreach, land development, or similar fields.
3. At least 3 years of experience in the solar industry is preferred; experience with utilities, independent power producers, or developers is advantageous.
4. Proven project management skills, including the ability to manage time-sensitive tasks, coordinate public events, and deliver presentations in collaboration with a team.
5. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
6. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
7. Excellent oral and written communication abilities, capable of engaging in diverse commercial and technical discussions.
8. Familiarity with industry topics, project development, and contract origination is beneficial but not mandatory.
9. A results-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to renewable energy and sustainability.
