JOB OVERVIEW:

The Primoris Renewable Energy (PRE) O&M division is searching for an HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality) Specialist located in the continental United States. The position does not require relocation. This is a field based role requiring up to 80% travel to project sites located throughout the continental U.S. This position reports to the HSEQ Manager.

The HSEQ Specialist position will primarily provide on-site HSEQ support for multiple projects involving various renewable energy scopes of work and will occasionally provide off-site support for our technicians, field supervisors, and active projects from their home office. The role requires HSEQ skills & knowledge related to energy production.

Rotation schedule: Eligible for 1 work week rotation off-site every 8 consecutive weeks in the field.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensure personnel are properly trained and equipped to successfully perform their work.
  • Implement the Integrated Management System and its standards on assigned project sites.
  • Ensure the Integrated Management System standards are being applied/adhered to on project sites.
  • Modify and maintain the HSEQ Manual to meet project-specific needs.
  • Regularly perform audits, inspections, job hazard analyses (JHA), failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA), event (incident) analyses, etc.
  • Regularly conduct pre-event analyses (audits, inspections & JHAs) and collect samples and data.
  • Identify and implement defenses for physical (HSE), financial & reputational (Quality) hazards and risks.
  • Identify improvement opportunities to address hazards, risks, and inefficiencies.
  • Assist the HSEQ Manager, Technical Services Manager and Operations Managers with the design of work instructions.
  • Inspect work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, identify deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.
  • Manage injury & illness cases and provide support for affected personnel.
  • Support the HSEQ Manager with the maintenance and revision of the Integrated Management System via documentation feedback and documentation management.
  • Support the HSEQ Manager with the collection, organization, and communication of quantitative and qualitative data. Assist Technicians and Field Supervisors with site-level documentation management.
  • Undergo training to sharpen own knowledge and skills.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in either a general industry or construction environment is required. Energy industry experience strongly preferred.
  • In lieu of experience, the following will be considered:
    • Associate’s Degree in Health & Safety, Engineering, Technology, or relevant Applied Sciences from an accredited institution can be substituted for 1 year of experience
    • Certification from BCSP or ASQ can be substituted for 1 year of experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Safety, Engineering, Technology, or relevant Applied Sciences from an accredited institution can be substituted for 2 years of experience
    • Master’s Degree (or greater) in Health & Safety, Engineering, Technology, or relevant Applied Sciences from an accredited institution can be substituted for 3 years of experience

Education/Training: Must meet one of the following education/training criteria:

    • OHSA 501 or 500, OR
    • BCSP Certified (CHST, GSP, ASP, CSP), OR
    • ASQ Certified (Six Sigma Black Belt, Quality Auditor, Reliability Engineer, Quality Engineer, OR
    • Bachelor’s Degree (or greater) in Health & Safety, Engineering, Technology, or other Applied Sciences.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of current OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, ASME, ASTM, DOT & EPA standards, and guidelines.
  • Effectively communicate and develop positive working relationships with customers, customer representatives, and PRE O&M personnel, to facilitate the HSEQ objectives.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and collaborate with staff at all levels to drive continuous improvement in safety & health, environmental, quality development and process improvement.
  • Write reports, technical specifications, work instructions, procedures, business correspondence and document HSEQ-related issues and activities.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, statistics, and geometry.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Apply principles of quality, lean, kaizen and continuous improvement.
  • Effective computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, cloud-based software/applications, etc.).
  • Must maintain a valid state issued Class D driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
  • Must maintain ability to travel up to 80%.
