About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English Language Arts Teacher to join our team at William J. Ostiguy High School. As an ELA Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and enriching environment for our youth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach English Language Arts to high school students in grades 9 through 12, focusing on promoting an atmosphere of inquiry and academic excellence.
  • Develop and Implement Curriculum aligned with the Massachusetts curriculum frameworks, city-wide learning standards, and Ostiguy High School curriculum guide.
  • Assess Student Progress through regular evaluations and assessments, maintaining accurate attendance and grading records.
  • Manage Classroom Environment through a focused approach to classroom management, ensuring a stable and productive learning environment.
  • Communicate with Students and Parents regarding student attendance, academic performance, and behavior, working closely with counselors for behavior management.
  • Participate in Staff Development activities, including staff meetings, program development, and after-school activities.
  • Perform Other Related Duties as required to support the mission and goals of Ostiguy High School.
Requirements
  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a related field and one to three years of previous teaching experience with youth.
  • ELA Teacher Certification: Required or must be able to obtain certification within the first academic year of employment.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Previous teaching experience in an alternative high school setting, flexibility, initiative, and ability to work in a team.
