At American University, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Development Coordinator to join our Office of Advancement. This role will provide administrative support to the Assistant Vice President and the Assistant Dean of Development for the College of Arts and Sciences, while also managing and executing advancement activities and related events.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative support to the Assistant Vice President and the Assistant Dean of Development, including coordinating travel arrangements, researching high-level donors and prospects, and maintaining calendar schedules.
  • Generate gift acknowledgements on behalf of the AVP and Assistant Dean, and provide notification of new gifts to appropriate offices and department heads.
  • Plan and execute advancement centric strategic high-level special events, including the Volunteer Leadership Summit, board and council related activities, and campaign activities.
  • Serve as liaison between schools on behalf of the Assistant Vice President and main campus, and coordinate targeted solicitations for annual gifts.
  • Support the Advancement office in managing prospect portfolios to the point of gift solicitation, and fulfill alumni and donor list requests from non-Development units.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with Ellucian CRM Advance, knowledge of gift processing procedures, research, and data management.
  • Knowledge of American University's College of Arts and Sciences programs, professors, and alumni/-ae.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range: $50,000-$55,000 annually.
  • 35 hours per week, with periodic night and weekend work required.
