This position is situated within the College of Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Science (CSAES), specifically in the AgroBioSciences program (AgBS).

Role Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to:
1. Engage in multidisciplinary research within the Crop Improvement team.
2. Lead initiatives in pre-breeding and molecular breeding, utilizing crop wild relatives and landraces to enhance crop performance.
3. Collaborate on research projects related to genetic resource management, genetics, and genomics.
4. Conduct extensive screening and phenotyping experiments to identify potential sources of resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses.
5. Implement studies such as Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) and marker-assisted selection (MAS).
6. Develop new germplasm through hybridization techniques.
7. Design and analyze field trials and controlled experiments.
8. Foster collaborations with global research centers and gene banks.
9. Prepare research proposals for funding and maintain integrated research programs.
10. Supervise graduate and undergraduate students, develop educational materials, and attract high-caliber students.

Qualifications:

The candidate should possess:
- A PhD in crop improvement with a focus on germplasm development and genetic resource management.
- Extensive knowledge of plant breeding and physiology, with a strong emphasis on molecular techniques.
- Proven experience with crop wild relatives and inter-specific populations.
- A minimum of ten years of research and teaching experience, including four years in international research settings.
- A strong publication record in reputable journals.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- A collaborative mindset with problem-solving abilities.
