Job Description

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Mechanical or MEP Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our cost management team, you will be responsible for providing mechanical estimates and cost consulting services to our clients.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical construction estimating, with experience in commercial, data center, industrial, and high-tech building projects. You will be responsible for producing and presenting cost plans, estimating at conceptual, programming, and detailed levels, and assisting with feasibility studies and procurement reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and timely cost estimates and cost planning services to clients.
  • Estimate at conceptual, programming, and detailed levels, including producing and presenting cost plans.
  • Assist with feasibility studies and procurement reports, including managing the pre-qualification stage and producing bid lists.
  • Perform all aspects of procurement, including bid analysis, bid reporting, and contractual document compilation.
  • Participate in post-contract cost variances and change control processes, referring major changes to the line manager as necessary.
  • Manage cost checks and carry out valuations on larger projects, ensuring timely and accurate cost checking and valuation processes.
  • Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present to clients.
  • Provide input into value engineering, negotiate and approve final accounts, and maintain liaison with clients and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Lead the cost management team when necessary, ensuring the delivery of all accountabilities.
  • Identify opportunities to develop new business with existing clients and report such opportunities to the line manager.
  • Identify improvements for cost management procedures, templates, and products, and refer ideas to the line manager.

Requirements:

  • Good technical experience in all cost management areas, including pre-contract, post-contract, and final account.
  • Demonstrate solid presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCad Navisworks, and/or other related computer software.
  • Good organization skills, ability to multi-task, and be a team player.
  • Good knowledge of all methods of construction procurement.
  • Experience with advising clients on value management, value engineering, and life cycle costing.
  • Experience with key aspects of business development.
  • Good knowledge and experience gained within several industry sectors.

Education/Experience:

  • College degree in Engineering, Construction Management with a Technical Focus, Quantity Surveyor, or related technical field.
  • Experience in commercial and high-tech real estate construction.
  • Experience preparing large-scale Mechanical cost estimates.
  • Good understanding of all mechanical aspects as they relate to construction of projects.
  • Construction experience with mechanical and plumbing systems a plus.
