Position Overview:
The

Electrical Estimation Specialist

plays a crucial role in the electrical construction sector, ensuring that projects are competitive, profitable, and contribute to the company's growth. This position is responsible for generating precise cost assessments for a variety of electrical construction initiatives.

Sturgeon Electric operates through two divisions, specializing in both power line construction and commercial/industrial electrical services, positioning itself as a full-service electrical contractor.


Our Transmission and Distribution (T&D) construction division offers extensive capabilities in transmission, distribution, and substation construction.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive labor and material cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with project management teams.
  • Prepare bills of materials and relevant documentation for procurement.
  • Assess constructability requirements through site visits with clients, subcontractors, and construction teams.
  • Verify the accuracy and consistency of various project documents and perform data entry.
  • Conduct field evaluations for estimate preparation.
  • Engage in the estimate review process with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support construction teams throughout the project lifecycle in tracking and interpreting cost estimates.
  • Prepare and submit change orders as necessary.
  • Follow up at project completion to finalize the estimating process, including invoicing and cost tracking.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:
Essential functions of this role are to be executed in a designated office or field location.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (N.E.C) and local regulations.
  • Ability to interpret civil, architectural, structural, mechanical plans, and specifications, including blueprints and proposals.
  • Understanding of electrical materials and installation methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and estimating software.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to maintain focus on tasks for extended periods while working independently.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with experience and is paid weekly. Sturgeon Electric offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
