Key Responsibilities:

The Referral Coordinator plays a crucial role in offering administrative assistance to specialty clinic providers, facilitating a seamless patient experience within the specialty clinics.

  • Track and manage all patient referrals efficiently.
  • Ensure accurate patient registration, including demographic details and current insurance information.
  • Address requests from third-party referral sources and provide necessary information and data.
  • Ensure timely processing of referrals.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to verify benefits and confirm prior authorization requirements.
  • Schedule appointments for new patients once all required information is collected.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and uphold patient confidentiality.
  • Relay patient updates between specialty clinics and referring sources.
  • Engage in professional development by attending meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • One to three months of relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
  • General knowledge of EMR software and Outlook Programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operational instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Capability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills for addressing groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions with common sense understanding.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, use hands, talk, and hear regularly; occasional sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
