Key Responsibilities:

The Referral Coordinator plays a crucial role in delivering administrative support to specialty clinic providers, facilitating a seamless patient experience.

  • Track and manage all patient referrals efficiently.
  • Ensure accurate patient registration, including demographic details and current insurance information.
  • Address requests from third-party referral sources and supply relevant information.
  • Ensure timely processing of referrals.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to verify benefits and meet prior authorization requirements.
  • Schedule appointments for new patients once all necessary information is collected.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and uphold patient confidentiality.
  • Provide updates on patients between specialty clinics and referring sources.
  • Engage in professional development through meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • One to three months of relevant experience or training; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with EMR software and Outlook Programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret various documents, including safety rules and operational instructions.
  • Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting information to groups.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions with common sense understanding.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, use hands, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision capabilities required for this role include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
