About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Dialysis Patient Care Technician to join our team at Mat-Su Dialysis. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Care and Monitoring: Provide compassionate care and monitoring to patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment.
  • Preparation and Setup: Prepare dialysis machines and equipment for treatment, ensuring all necessary components are in place.
  • Patient Transportation and Vital Signs: Transport patients to and from treatment, record vital signs, and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Education and Support: Explain dialysis procedures and equipment operation to patients, addressing any concerns or anxieties.
  • Access Inspection and Cleaning: Inspect and clean patient access sites (fistula, graft, or catheter) to maintain hygiene and prevent infection.
  • Equipment Settings and Safety: Verify equipment settings, including pressures, conductivity, and temperature, to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Treatment Initiation and Monitoring: Start patient treatment according to physician orders and monitor for any adverse reactions or equipment malfunctions.
  • Inventory and Supply Management: Assist with inventory and supply stocking in the dialysis clinic to maintain a well-stocked and efficient environment.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; evidence of such is necessary for employment.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 months of dialysis, phlebotomy, or CNA/PCA experience preferred.
  • Certifications: CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Color Vision: Ability to distinguish primary colors, as demonstrated by passing the Ishihara Color Vision Test.
  • Training and Certification: Successful completion of our dialysis training program, including demonstrated competency, within 12 weeks of hire.
  • Certification and Compliance: Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved national certification requirements within the CMS timeline; certification must be maintained as current and in good standing.
  • Flexibility and Communication: Must be flexible to work most days/times (no set shifts) and possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills required; proficiency in all clinical applications necessary within 90 days of hire.
  • Problem-Solving and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to organize time and tasks well, use problem-solving and analytical skills, and maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Must be able to work effectively with patients, staff, and other individuals as required, and adapt to changing situations and priorities.
