Dialysis Patient Care Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Dialysis Patient Care Specialist to join our team at Mat-Su Dialysis. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support.
Key Responsibilities- Care and Monitoring: Provide compassionate care and monitoring to patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment.
- Treatment Preparation: Prepare dialysis machines and their components for treatment, ensuring all necessary equipment is in working order.
- Patient Transportation: Safely transport patients to and from treatment areas, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
- Communication and Education: Explain dialysis procedures and machine operations to patients, addressing any concerns or anxieties they may have.
- Access Inspection and Cleaning: Inspect and clean patient access sites (fistula, graft, or catheter) to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Equipment Settings and Monitoring: Verify equipment settings, including pressures, conductivity, and temperature, to ensure conformance to safety standards.
- Treatment Initiation: Start patient treatment according to physician orders, ensuring accurate and timely administration.
- Adverse Reaction and Malfunction Monitoring: Monitor patients for adverse reactions and dialysis machines for malfunction, taking prompt action to address any issues.
- Inventory and Supply Management: Assist in inventory and supply stocking in the dialysis clinic, maintaining a well-stocked and organized environment.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with evidence of such required prior to employment.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 months of dialysis, phlebotomy, or CNA/PCA experience preferred.
- Certifications: CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Color Vision: Ability to distinguish primary colors, demonstrated by passing the Ishihara Color Vision Test.
- Training and Certification: Successful completion of our dialysis training program, including demonstrated competency, within 12 weeks of hire.
- Certification Requirements: Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved national certification requirements within the CMS timeline, maintaining certification in good standing.
- Flexibility: Must be flexible to work most days/times, with no set shifts.
- Communication and Computer Skills: Demonstrated working knowledge of the English language, with ability to communicate verbally and in writing, and basic computer skills, with proficiency in all clinical applications required within 90 days of hire.
- Time Management and Problem-Solving: Ability to organize time and tasks well, with required use of problem-solving, analytical, and effective communication skills.
- Confidentiality and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion, with interpersonal skills necessary to work with patients, staff, and other individuals as required.
