Position Title: Technical Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Technical Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and directing blasting operations across the designated LLC/Region, ensuring adherence to local and regional regulations as well as Austin Powder Company’s standards and protocols.

This position encompasses a broad spectrum of technical knowledge and support, including compliance training, performance analysis of blasting activities, and resolution of product-related challenges, all aimed at enhancing safety and improving customer satisfaction.

The Technical Manager will report directly to the LLC/Regional President/GM.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver advanced technical guidance to team members and clients, focusing on mine planning, blast design, post-blast evaluations, and optimization of blasting techniques.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Perform blast audits to verify that operational and regulatory procedures are consistently followed and that safety measures are in place.
  • Be available on-site as needed to meet customer requirements and management discretion.
  • Facilitate Blaster training and assist in the certification process for LLC/Regional staff.
  • Lead investigations into blasting incidents to identify root causes and propose corrective measures.
  • Identify and implement relevant software and technological solutions.
  • Develop and maintain internal networks of expertise, providing technical support both internally and externally.
  • Support manufacturing goals to enhance and ensure product quality.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of state and local regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain regular communication with industry experts to stay informed about regulatory and product developments that may affect operations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitive products, applications, and advancements in technology.
  • Assist in preparing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree, preferably in Mining; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in roles such as mining engineer, blaster-in-charge, or related fields.
  • Drone certification or license is advantageous.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role may require up to 75% overnight travel, involving work in office settings, manufacturing plants, and outdoor environments.
