Position Summary:

The Patient Access Specialist I plays a crucial role in our centralized call center, responsible for managing patient access functions in accordance with established protocols. This position involves answering incoming calls, assisting patients with registration, scheduling appointments, and addressing insurance inquiries for various specialties.

The role offers a flexible work schedule with opportunities for professional development. The standard hours are Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend shifts required. Remote work options are available upon successful completion of training and meeting productivity benchmarks.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle incoming calls from patients seeking to schedule appointments, ensuring adherence to quality and quantity standards.
  • Register patients and verify demographic information using Epic, ensuring accuracy in the patient database.
  • Obtain and confirm insurance coverage to facilitate patient account reimbursement and minimize eligibility denials.
  • Schedule and reschedule patient appointments in alignment with established guidelines, utilizing Epic Provider Vista for efficient appointment management.
  • Provide essential information to patients regarding their inquiries and follow procedures to ensure all registration requirements are met.
  • Assist with medication refill requests, ensuring accurate communication with office staff and verifying necessary information.
  • Perform ancillary administrative tasks as needed, including managing work queues and responding to patient messages in a timely manner.

To excel in this role, candidates should possess strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex scheduling requirements. Knowledge of medical terminology and patient registration processes is essential.


Qualifications:

Applicants should have at least one year of customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting. Additional experience in a similar role may be required for advancement to Patient Access Specialist II.


Compensation:

The pay range for this position is $26.76 per hour.
