Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Safety and Occupational Health Specialist to join our team at the Justice, Bureau of Prisons/Federal Prison System. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our staff and inmates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct safety and environmental inspections of the institution and prepare reports for review.
  • Promote adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the training of staff and inmates in safety and environmental protection.
  • Investigate incidents and prepare reports.
  • Develop and conduct safety training classes for staff and inmates.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a safety or occupational health field, or a related field with 24 semester hours of study in safety, occupational health, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of general experience, including 1 year of experience equivalent to the GL-04 grade level.
  • Certification: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Health Physicist (CHP) certification may be substituted for education and experience.
