Job Summary

As a Project Management Associate at Avangrid, you will provide critical support to project management teams in New York and Maine, handling complex substations and transmission line projects. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing project management process improvements, participating in project tracking and control, and coordinating various aspects of the project life cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Solve project management problems using standard procedures and analyze possible solutions.
  • Assist project managers and teams in project tracking and control, collecting individual project status information and developing project updates for management review.
  • Plan and coordinate project life cycles, prepare and maintain project management records and documentation, and obtain necessary permits.
  • Support the creation of project charters, needs assessments, analysis, solution, initiation, plan, execution, control, and close-out.
  • Coordinate and monitor contractors, serve as an assistant project manager on moderately complex projects, and apply team effectiveness skills to contribute to team goals.
  • Explain information and persuade others in straightforward situations, collaborate with project teams to implement and control projects, and provide support to QA/QC and SHEQ units.
  • Respond to standard and non-standard requests from customers, investigate with assistance from senior project managers as needed, and work with guidance from the team to assess and identify solutions.
  • Perform project management analyses to apply specific skills and knowledge to meet project requirements, develop business cases for small projects, and monitor and control costs within own work and project budget.
  • Manage small project/process teams, including coordination with internal and external stakeholders, using best practices.
Requirements
  • Must have skills in project management methodology, tools, such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, and knowledge of other project management tools and techniques.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal skills with the ability to create and deliver effective project reports and presentations.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, strong project management skills, and team-work oriented.
  • Focus on problem-solving, self and others' development, attention to details, and QA/QC related tasks.
  • Experience using SAP software is desired.
Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in management, business, engineering, or a related field, with 1 year of experience performing project management-related functions for projects in the Electric/Gas Utility sector.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification is desired or must be obtained within one year of entry into the position.
