Key Responsibilities:

The Private Wealth Supervision Manager (PWSM) operates under the direction of the Merrill Private Wealth Business Segment Supervision Executive (BSSE) and has a dual reporting line to the Merrill Private Wealth Management Regional Managing Director (RMD).

The PWSM plays a vital role as a member of the market leadership team, overseeing a diverse range of delegated compliance, administrative, and operational tasks pertinent to the MPWM RMD's comprehensive managerial duties for both parent and associate offices. This role requires independent functioning with minimal oversight while ensuring that the PWM RMD is kept informed of significant developments and determining when direct involvement from the PWM RMD is necessary. The PWSM actively supports the organization’s business goals and enhances market profitability by guiding Private Wealth Advisor practices to mitigate regulatory, financial, and reputational risks.

Essential Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate is a proactive, client-focused professional possessing:
  • Required Licenses: Series 7, 66, 9, 10 (or equivalent)
  • Series 3, 31 licenses, as applicable
  • A proven track record in risk management, with the ability to make informed decisions grounded in a thorough understanding of industry regulations, supervisory mandates, policies/procedures, wealth management principles, and financial products
  • Capability to articulate client needs and concerns, coaching Private Wealth Advisors on aligning solutions with client goals in a suitable and controlled manner
  • A profound appreciation for our client-centric approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills to mentor Private Wealth Advisors in risk mitigation through effective segmentation, disciplined investment practices, and thorough documentation
  • Robust analytical abilities to discern trends, identify root causes and impacts, and implement enhanced processes to reduce risk
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities through effective communication and collaboration, making sound decisions with confidence and integrity
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • If currently an internal associate, completion of the Associate Office Management Team Development program and/or experience as a Merrill Lynch Market Supervision Manager is highly preferred
