Salary Information

Compensation structures are determined through a multi-step progression system. The salary range indicates both the entry-level and maximum earning potential within the designated pay grade. A starting salary may be negotiated based on educational background, training, and relevant experience, in accordance with pay administration policies and organizational regulations.

Nature of Work

This position primarily exists to oversee the activities of Construction and Heavy Equipment Operators involved in the installation, construction, maintenance, repair, and demolition of various infrastructures, including streets, stormwater outfalls, large drainage systems, pre-cast bridges, and both residential and commercial buildings. Key responsibilities include:
  • Supervising a team of two or more full-time employees.
  • Directing the installation, repair, maintenance, construction, and demolition of concrete structures, parking areas, recreational spaces, drainage systems, and landfill cells.
  • Estimating materials, labor, time, and equipment needed for proposed construction, maintenance, repair, and demolition projects.
  • Addressing public inquiries and complaints regarding maintenance work on municipal properties.
Supervision is provided by higher-level administrative personnel, and the incumbent must exercise independent judgment to resolve most technical issues.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required, along with five (5) years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and construction of streets, bridges, and drainage systems, including at least two years of experience operating construction machinery. Experience with construction equipment includes operating dozers, compactors, excavators, or motor graders.

Equivalent education, training, and experience that provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and an insurable driving record as required for operating company vehicles. Availability for overtime, weekends, and on-call duties for special projects and emergencies is essential. Some positions may necessitate a Class A or B CDL for equipment operation. Employees in specific roles may be required to obtain relevant certifications after one year of employment.
