The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in operating construction equipment and supervising a team of operators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise two or more full-time employees and direct the installation, repair, maintenance, construction, and demolition of concrete structures, parking lots, play areas, drainage ditches, and landfill cells.
  • Estimate materials, labor, time, and equipment for proposed construction, maintenance, repair, and demolition projects.
  • Answer citizens' complaints concerning maintenance work on public property.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of construction equipment operators to ensure efficient and safe project completion.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols to minimize risks and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to plan and execute projects.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and identify potential issues.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and five (5) years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and construction of streets, bridges, and drainage structures with at least two years of experience operating construction equipment.
  • Construction equipment experience is defined as experience operating equipment such as dozers, compactors, excavators, or motor graders.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and insurable driving record as needed to operate City vehicles.
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and be on-call 24 hours, as needed for special projects and for emergency situations.
  • Some positions may require the possession of a Class A or B CDL in order to operate equipment.
