Position Overview:
The Senior Vice President of Sales & Business Development will lead our primary growth and distribution teams.

Ohiox's Core Distribution team consists of Sales Directors who operate regionally, supported by a dedicated group of sales representatives responsible for generating and renewing business through Employee Benefits Brokers, from small independents to large national partners.

Additionally, you will oversee Alternative Distribution channels, including HRIS and employee benefits platforms.


The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in relationship-focused insurance sales and benefits distribution, with proven industry experience.

We seek a leader with a history of success in managing sales teams and establishing impactful commercial distribution partnerships.


You will manage a team of 2-3 sales directors, along with sales operations and business development leads, totaling 30-40 team members, accountable for significant annual new bookings and a substantial retained revenue stream.

You will report directly to the President COO.

Key Responsibilities:

Core Distribution:
- Develop targeted sales strategies to engage and strengthen broker relationships, from small-scale to large national collaborations.
- Create and refine a talent acquisition strategy aligned with sales objectives.
- Foster a high-performance culture and maintain operational excellence.
- Promote a culture of compliance and quality in sales practices.
- Build and sustain professional relationships with key brokerage leaders.
- Collaborate with finance and analytics teams to design effective incentive programs.

Alternative Distribution:
- Expand and optimize the team responsible for managing distribution partnerships.
- Lead by example in prospecting, negotiating, and establishing new high-potential distribution agreements while developing scalable processes for your team.

Leadership and Reporting:
- Provide regular updates on performance metrics, insights, and team needs for success.
- Gather and analyze market feedback to inform product development and strategic planning.
- Represent Ohiox to current and potential partners, advocating for their needs internally.

Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in sales leadership, preferably within the benefits sector.
- 5+ years in senior sales management roles in a fast-paced environment, leading teams of sales leaders.
- Experience as a third-line leader is advantageous.
- Familiarity with various sales motions, including onboarding, retention, and renewals.
- Strong financial acumen and forecasting skills across multiple performance metrics.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
