Position Overview

The Chief of Information Security is tasked with overseeing and enhancing TriWest's information security initiatives. This role requires the acquisition and management of essential resources, including leadership backing, financial support, and key security personnel, to achieve IT security objectives and mitigate overall risk. The Chief will collaborate with other leaders to devise and execute information security strategies that align with TriWest's mission and goals.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT security, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• 5+ years of progressive management experience leading IT security teams.

• 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity and IT administration.

• Proficient in managing a NIST, FISMA security environment, and securing ongoing authorizations.

• Experience integrating controls based on NIST 800 series guidelines.

• Familiarity with FedRAMP security frameworks and requirements.

• Knowledge of STIG configuration standards and their implementation.

• Eligible for Department of Defense security clearance.

Desirable:

• Background in information security or a related discipline with certification (e.g., CISSP).

• Proficiency with VPN devices and encryption technologies.

• Skills in utilizing PKI encryption and digital signature capabilities.

• Ability to interpret Communications Security (COMSEC) protocols.

• Understanding of laws and policies relevant to cybersecurity.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the cybersecurity of programs, organizations, systems, or enclaves.

• Ensure the effective implementation of security requirements and IT policies consistent with TriWest's objectives.

• Advise senior management on the cost/benefit analysis of security programs and risk levels.

• Integrate cybersecurity requirements into continuity planning.

• Coordinate cybersecurity inspections, tests, and reviews for the network environment.

• Monitor implications of new technologies on IT security programs.

• Manage information security training and awareness initiatives.

• Provide input on cybersecurity requirements for procurement documents.

• Utilize federal and TriWest-specific documents to manage computing environment operations.

• Develop and implement information security strategies that align with TriWest's overall objectives, including identifying key metrics and enhancing security policies.

• Supervise daily operations of the information security department, ensuring compliance and implementing improvements.

• Conduct risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities, developing mitigation strategies accordingly.

• Formulate incident response plans for security incidents, conducting regular drills for preparedness.

• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the information security program aligns with organizational goals.

• Manage relationships with third-party vendors supporting the information security program.

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements regarding data privacy and security.
