Key Responsibilities:


• Ensure adherence to statewide information security policies, as well as standards such as NIST, ISO, PCI, and HIPAA, by conducting compliance reviews and proactive assessments. Assist in the formulation and execution of comprehensive information security and privacy policies.


• Identify potential security and privacy risks across state agencies and guide them in implementing risk mitigation strategies in line with established risk management protocols. Support investigations related to data breaches and privacy incidents.


• Engage in projects by assessing security plans and controls to ensure compliance with security and privacy standards, thereby reducing risks and improving the overall security framework.


• Promote statewide awareness and training programs focused on information security and privacy protection.


• Lead or collaborate in internal and external security audits and assessments.


• Perform additional duties as assigned relevant to the role.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge:


• A thorough understanding of information security technologies, industry trends, and best practices is essential. Candidates should be familiar with key information protection standards, including NIST, HIPAA, and PCI, and demonstrate expertise in risk assessment and compliance management.


• Candidates should possess in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity workforce dynamics, virtual learning environments, and the development of cybersecurity operational policies. Proficiency in risk management, business continuity, and disaster recovery is necessary.


• Expertise in privacy laws, cybersecurity threats, and advanced defense tools is critical. Familiarity with enterprise cybersecurity architecture and identity management is also required.

Skills:


• Strong customer service and communication skills are vital for effective interaction with stakeholders. Candidates should be skilled in identifying technical gaps and applying security measures.


• The ability to analyze data, derive conclusions, and communicate complex ideas clearly is essential. Experience in developing security assessments and instructional materials is required.


• Critical thinking and collaboration skills are necessary, particularly in fast-paced environments. Candidates should be adept at analyzing vulnerabilities and aligning cybersecurity objectives.

Abilities:


• Responsibilities include ensuring the effectiveness of cybersecurity and privacy programs, assessing security controls, and managing compliance efforts. Establishing privacy audit programs is crucial for ongoing risk mitigation.
