Position Overview

This role is accountable for the daily management of the institution's inventory operations, including the canteen; overseeing the shipping, receiving, and storage of goods; coordinating the collection of materials and supplies as needed; maintaining a secure environment in line with institutional security protocols; and providing guidance and training to inmate workers. This position entails significant responsibilities that directly contribute to the safe, secure, and efficient functioning of the institution. The role requires independent execution of diverse tasks within a unique operational setting akin to a large and varied retail environment.

Compensation Details

This position falls under pay schedule/range 3-10, with a starting wage of $18.12 per hour, complemented by excellent benefits. Pay for current state employees may differ based on applicable compensation guidelines.

Job Requirements

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may require pre-employment drug screenings. Candidates offered positions that necessitate such screenings must successfully pass them as a condition of employment.

Criminal background checks will be conducted on applicants prior to selection. All new employees are subject to fingerprinting upon hire.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess education, experience, and/or training in the following areas:

  • Coordination of the shipping, receiving, and storage of all goods within the institution's warehouse and all products available for sale in the canteen.
  • Maintaining inventory through appropriate software tracking and purchasing systems.
  • Supervising, training, and overseeing individuals in our care assigned to the warehouse, including delegating tasks, resolving conflicts, and managing access to tools and supplies.
  • Ensuring security within the warehouse in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Conducting regular inspections of the premises, including frequent rounds of the warehouse.

Special Requirements

  • Ability to perform heavy lifting.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Capability to operate a flatbed or box truck, including maneuvering in and out of loading docks.
  • Routine lifting of heavy objects, up to 75 lbs.
  • Some positions may require fleet eligibility, necessitating a valid driver's license and compliance with driving eligibility standards.
