Position Overview

This role requires availability from Friday to Monday, 8AM to 6PM.

This position plays a vital role in the success of REI by acting as an Operations Assistant Manager, responsible for overseeing workload organization and operational performance analysis to effectively coordinate labor and staffing strategies. This role entails the planning and execution of building initiatives, budget management, and team performance oversight. Additionally, this position involves managing a diverse workforce and providing operational guidance and development for Supervisors and their teams. The role includes creating, planning, and executing a 1-3 year business strategy that supports supply chain projects, key performance indicators, and operational efficiency. This position exemplifies and leads expectations for daily operations, prioritizing safety, adequate staffing, expense management, and accountability across all employee levels. This role embodies and acts in alignment with REI's core values and mission.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Identifies and communicates essential responsibilities and practices to foster a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business outcomes.

  • Monitors operational metrics, reports trends, variances, and issues, and takes appropriate actions.
  • Organizes, coordinates, and communicates workload planning at a functional level on a daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal basis. Applies industry best practices to internal freight movement, collaborating with peers to achieve production goals efficiently.
  • Delivers detailed analysis of production rates at division, department, and individual levels to assist operational supervisors in forecasting long-term staffing needs.
  • Coordinates labor and staffing plans for both short and long-term needs, including managing temporary employee programs, cross-training initiatives, and seasonal hiring processes.
  • Collaborates with Finance, Merchandising, Retail, and the Global Supply Chain team to project and report on Key Performance Indicators and update building Visual Controls.
  • Defines and develops production-based projects, including product placement, seasonal space planning, and improvements to the Warehouse Management System.
  • Actively coordinates and/or leads Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance departmental productivity and cost management.
  • Plans and coordinates promotions and events for the Distribution Center, including creating plans, ensuring accountability for execution, and documenting post-operation lessons learned.
  • Supervises Records Clerk employees to meet company needs; communicates company policies and procedures; hires, trains, and evaluates department employees; forecasts future staffing and training requirements.
  • Serves as a role model for other employees by consistently demonstrating exemplary work habits that contribute to teamwork, productivity, and efficiency; maintains current functional knowledge and skills to assist staff with daily workloads as needed.
  • Develops, monitors, and operates within departmental annual payroll, capital, and expense budgets.
  • Maintains ongoing relationships and serves as a member on various committees to represent departmental and overall company interests; communicates company needs and expectations internally and externally; provides review, input, and recommendations as appropriate.

Your Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of leadership experience, successfully managing a team of employees.
  • 5+ years of experience in Distribution or relevant fields, including distribution training or a logistics degree from an accredited institution (preferred).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to cover 24/7 operations.
  • Experience with profit and loss responsibility, preferably over $1M in expenses across multiple operational disciplines.
  • Ability to understand and communicate variances related to operations, including finances, productivity, or customer service issues.
  • 2+ years of experience in developing analytics and production tracking.
  • Enhances the capacity of individuals and teams through effective employee development, involvement, communication, and supervision.

Salary Range

$85,000 - $136,136.00 per year.
