Position: Production Process Engineer

ROLE SUMMARY
We are in search of a dedicated and detail-focused Production Process Engineer to enhance and refine our manufacturing workflows for refuse vehicles. This position will play a crucial role in driving continuous improvement strategies, ensuring quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness throughout various stages of production.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Equipment Efficiency: Assess the performance and effectiveness of manufacturing machinery. Identify potential upgrades, modifications, or replacements to boost productivity and minimize downtime.
  • Process Evaluation and Enhancement: Review current manufacturing procedures to pinpoint bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas ripe for enhancement. Formulate and execute strategies to optimize operations, reduce waste, and elevate throughput.
  • Tooling and Fixture Development: Collaborate on the design, development, and deployment of tooling and fixturing solutions that enhance manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and equipment utilization.
  • New Product Launch Support: Aid in the rollout of new products by creating and implementing manufacturing processes that ensure smooth integration with existing operations.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Diagnostics: Contribute to the creation and execution of preventive maintenance plans to maximize equipment availability and reduce unexpected failures. Diagnose equipment problems and implement corrective measures.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze data related to equipment performance, process efficiency, and product quality. Prepare reports and provide insights to support decision-making and ongoing improvement initiatives.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work in close partnership with other teams, including design engineering, quality assurance, and production, to ensure alignment and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Engage in process enhancement initiatives across metal fabrication, welding, painting, wiring, hydraulics, pneumatics, and final assembly processes.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of an associate degree in advanced technology or a related field, or a combination of production experience and education.
At least five years of experience in a manufacturing setting with knowledge of fabrication, assembly, welding, and automotive-related processes.
Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment with practical knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes such as laser and plasma cutting, press brakes, CNC machining, and MIG welding.
Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong capacity to engage with individuals at all levels within and outside the organization.
Ability to identify issues through analytical reasoning and resolve challenges through innovative thinking.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
