POSITION SUMMARY
This role encompasses various responsibilities within the production environment at New Way Trucks. The supervisor is accountable for ensuring team members adhere to standards of efficiency, quality, safety, and compliance with company policies. This position oversees and coordinates the activities of personnel involved in the production and/or development of products. Reporting to the Site Manager, the supervisor is responsible for daily operations within their designated areas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure a safe working environment and guarantee that team members follow safety protocols.
- Identify opportunities for productivity enhancements and assist in implementing improvements.
- Serve as a role model for the department by fostering employee engagement with a respectful and positive demeanor.
- Direct the efforts of staff, ensuring coordination of work, minimizing downtime, and maintaining established quality standards.
- Develop procedures and techniques aimed at reducing process variation and manufacturing delays while boosting productivity.
- Justify staffing requests, participate in the hiring process, and set clear expectations for employees.
- Manage performance and collaborate with HR on matters requiring disciplinary action.
- Communicate effectively with leads and team members to ensure proper staffing.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure the availability of necessary materials and equipment for team members.
- Review and approve weekly payroll in accordance with company policy and deadlines.
- Maintain inventory records and supplies to meet production schedules.
- Provide training and coaching to enhance team members' skills.
- Coordinate production schedules with support departments and address production issues related to methods, tools, materials, and manpower.
- Communicate expectations and challenges clearly to team members.
Experience in a leadership role is essential.
Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
Knowledge of production processes and equipment.
Ability to plan and implement changes effectively.
Mathematical skills, including a solid understanding of fractions and angles.
Capability to read blueprints and cut lists.
Proficient computer skills, including the ability to create and manage documents and spreadsheets.
