Position Overview

The Cash Application Specialist will ensure the accurate and timely application of customer payments by leveraging knowledge of company products, internal processes, and business relationships. This role will primarily focus on the application of cash payments from Signode customers related to their various contracts.


Key Responsibilities
  • Daily application of cash based on banking statements.
  • Maintain and update documentation for missing remittances.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify and resolve intercompany payments received.
  • Process netting cash applications on a monthly basis.
  • Utilize various customer portals to gather necessary information for accurate cash application.
  • Interface with customers, Collections, Sales, and CSR teams, notifying the Collections team of potential problem accounts due to short payments, deductions, or missing information.
  • Provide regular status updates to management.
  • Conduct daily reconciliation of bank accounts to ensure the accuracy and integrity of Accounts Receivable.
  • Analyze and process offsets and write-off requests, and retrieve check copies to confirm correct payment applications.
  • Communicate any potential problem accounts to the respective Manager and Supervisor, ensuring appropriate follow-up and documentation.

Qualifications

Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of cash application experience with large volume, high-profile accounts.

Skills:
Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel (Basic Functions, Formatting, Print setup). Familiarity with ERP software (Dynamics AX or Great Plains preferred) and customer portals (Ariba, Tulia, Coupa, etc.). Advanced understanding of the cash application process.
