Position Overview: Senior Civil Engineer

Reporting To: Office Manager

The candidate should be capable of working autonomously while remaining open to guidance from supervisors.

Strong analytical skills are essential for devising effective solutions to engineering challenges.

Technical Duties:

Oversee and execute civil engineering design assignments, including but not limited to civil site plans, zoning permit applications, subdivision plans, and designs for storm and sanitary sewer systems.

Prepare site designs that comply with the Philadelphia Water Department's Stormwater Management Guidelines for Private Development, ensuring familiarity with all relevant design standards.

Develop plans adhering to the Philadelphia Code, with a solid understanding of zoning and construction permitting, as well as requirements from the Department of Streets and the Philadelphia City Planning Commission.

Generate technical specifications, conduct quantity take-offs, prepare cost estimates, and formulate construction schedules.

Compile design study reports and other deliverables.

Engage directly with clients to coordinate and communicate project details.

Occasionally lead fieldwork activities with both internal and external teams.

Assist in defining project scopes and associated fee estimates, contributing to business development initiatives.

Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, including engineers, CADD technicians, and interns.

Stay updated with the latest design criteria and technological advancements.

Proficient in utilizing software tools such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite for project completion.

Administrative Responsibilities:

Candidates should exhibit strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic environment.

Collaboration and teamwork are essential, as candidates will work closely with colleagues.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.

Willingness to travel to project sites as necessary.

Familiarity with company policies and procedures is expected, along with ensuring compliance.

Daily completion of time sheets is required.

Qualifications:

Educational Background:

A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, along with a Professional Engineering license (preferably in PA or another state with reciprocity).

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and the Microsoft Office Suite is essential.

Experience:

8 to 12 years of experience in site and civil engineering.

In-depth knowledge of the land development process.

Experience with land development projects in urban settings.
