Job Overview

Under the supervision of the department manager, the role involves overseeing the procurement, inventory management, and distribution of materials for surgical departments, ensuring optimal supply chain efficiency. The position requires adept problem-solving abilities to manage inventory levels, address discrepancies, and handle backorders or substitute items within clinical settings. Acts as the primary Supply Chain contact for key personnel in surgical and procedural areas, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of surgical case carts for operations.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or Certifications: Must be able to receive training and certification for operating an electric pallet jack.
  • Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in healthcare supply chain management within a hospital procedural environment or a similar setting is necessary.

  • Competence in analyzing and adjusting inventory levels to enhance efficiency.
  • Detail-oriented with strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to assess urgency in customer requests and escalate as necessary.
  • Basic understanding of inventory and distribution methodologies.
  • Technical proficiency in various software applications necessary for job functions, including ERP systems and MS Office.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Ensure all supply chain duties and deadlines are met for surgical departments.
  • Maintain the Kanban program through effective management systems.
  • Stock Kanban nodes in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Assemble surgical case carts based on requisition requirements.
  • Accurately gather supplies and instruments for assigned surgical cases.
  • Compile a list of supplies and instruments needed for procedures.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to secure necessary surgical supplies.
  • Transfer completed case carts to sterile processing areas.
  • Manage urgent requests and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Support surgical teams in acquiring the necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Assist in troubleshooting supply issues and provide recommendations.
  • Conduct inventory audits and restock supplies as needed.
  • Participate in the implementation of new items and supply conversions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Constant standing, walking, and bending required.
  • Regular use of vision and manual dexterity for various tasks.
