Position Overview:

The Janitorial Lead is accountable for the comprehensive maintenance of both hard and soft flooring surfaces. This includes tasks such as stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonnet cleaning in various settings like offices, classrooms, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other communal areas. Familiarity with a variety of flooring materials is advantageous. The Janitorial Lead executes all responsibilities in alignment with the Jan OPS Cleaning System and maintains communication with the Area Supervisor regarding significant activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct spot removal, extraction, bonnet cleaning, and floor maintenance tasks.
  • Thoroughly clean and restore carpeted and non-carpeted areas using appropriate tools and cleaning agents.
  • Maintain cleanliness of floors and stairways through sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Safely move large furniture and objects as needed, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Ensure the janitor closet is organized and tidy.
  • Prepare cleaning solutions and operate equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Secure building entrances and report any maintenance needs or safety concerns to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Area Supervisor or Area Manager.

Requirements:

Traveling, including inter-island travel, is necessary, and reliable transportation is required. Flexibility in availability is essential.

Personal Attributes: Dependable, honest, strong work ethic, motivated, professional appearance, effective communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; capable of kneeling, crawling, and squatting periodically; able to stand and walk for extended durations; proficient in reaching above head and shoulders; capable of climbing stairs and ladders.

Technical Skills: Familiarity with janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience/Education: A high school diploma is preferred; prior experience in floor care is advantageous.
