Your Role...

The Lead Ocean Export Specialist will play a crucial role in our team, acting as a primary liaison for customers and overseeing the complete international shipment process from quotation to delivery. This position requires strong leadership and customer service skills, as well as the ability to foster healthy relationships with international freight forwarding vendors and regulatory bodies. Attention to detail and a willingness to learn are essential traits. Candidates should be culturally sensitive and prepared to work with individuals who may have limited English proficiency.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in Ocean Export
  • Familiarity with Cargowise is preferred
  • Outstanding customer service abilities

Your Responsibilities...

This role is pivotal in ensuring the timely, efficient, and cost-effective movement of international freight, adhering to customs regulations, preparing documentation, and complying with country-specific regulations. As a service-oriented company, we strive to provide an exceptional customer experience. A positive attitude and teamwork are vital for maintaining strong vendor relationships and fostering a collaborative office environment.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Evaluate client requests and respond promptly, taking appropriate action or delegating to the relevant team
  • Oversee all Ocean Export shipments and client interactions
  • Complete FMC filings and conduct audits to ensure compliance
  • Manage MARAD reporting and carrier compliance
  • Review and approve steamship line carrier contracts
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective routing of Ocean Export shipments
  • Handle CRP/Secured Shipments appropriately
  • Conduct DG reviews and preparations
  • Negotiate carrier rates
  • Pre-alert shipments in a timely manner
  • Invoice agent-routed shipments
  • Prepare international documentation, including legalized documents and letters of credit
  • Maintain export reports and present statistics to the team
  • File AES and ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Monitor personal and shared category emails in the exports mailbox
  • Liaise with international and domestic agents
  • Fulfill rate requests as necessary
  • Track cargo and update clients as required
