Job Title:

Director of Talent Development

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Talent Development to join our People and Culture team at Food Bank For NYC. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating our organization-wide Learning and Development initiatives, as well as managing our annual Talent Management process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage talent management and organizational development initiatives aligned with business objectives.
  • Champion a culture of talent development, driving the execution of effective talent management and learning & development across the organization.
  • Collaborate with leaders to understand current and future skill needs and develop learning & development programs accordingly.
  • Develop strategies that enhance individual contributor, management, and leadership skills, increasing performance and organizational effectiveness.
  • Manage the Talent Management life cycle, including annual reviews, quarterly check-ins, Individual Development Plans, promotions, succession planning, and feedback programs.
  • Oversee the enterprise approach to Individual Development Plans (IDPs), ensuring they provide tangible value and effectively support employee development.
  • Maximize the use of our learning systems, including platforms like LinkedIn Learning and UKG Learning, to enhance our team's skills, competencies, and knowledge.
  • Manage and implement learning technologies, platforms, and/or solutions to facilitate efficient and effective knowledge sharing and learning across the organization.
  • Integrate Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives into all aspects of talent management and organizational development.
  • Develop solutions for core training and development programs, including facilitating core training as needed and/or recommending external training solutions supporting learning goals.
  • In collaboration with colleagues on the People and Culture team, design and facilitate new employee orientation and on-boarding programs.
  • Make recommendations and develop and manage the learning and development budget.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and innovations in talent management and learning & development.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of broad HR experience, including talent management and performance management.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.
  • Experience designing, developing, and supporting organization-wide talent management programs that cover performance management, talent development, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Previous experience integrating talent development with business strategies.
  • Highly adaptable, comfortable working with ambiguity, and willing to challenge the status quo with insightful recommendations.
  • Extraordinary communication skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, proactive, and strategic thinker with a flexible and diplomatic approach.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR preferred, but not required.
  • UKG and LinkedIn Learning experience preferred, but not required.
