About the Role

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will play a critical role in driving the strategic direction and operational excellence of The Zekelman Holocaust Center. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will serve as a key advisor, providing critical insights and recommendations to ensure the organization's mission and goals are achieved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Collaborate with the CEO to drive the strategic planning process, ensuring seamless execution of operational objectives across all departments.
  • Operational Management: Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient systems and processes that support the organization's mission and long-term sustainability.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and manage department heads across finance, education, human resources, development, curation, and data, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Financial Management: Ensure sound fiscal management, overseeing the budgeting process, financial forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and coordination across the organization.
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, managing risk, and safeguarding the organization's reputation.
Requirements
  • Proven Track Record: Proven track record in nonprofit operations or administration, with a minimum of 7-10 years of senior management experience.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills with a history of managing multiple departments or teams, driving operational success, and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Financial Acumen: Financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis in a nonprofit context.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across a diverse array of stakeholders.
