Position Overview: The Surgical Appointment Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing the clerical and scheduling responsibilities associated with surgical procedures. This position involves effective communication with patients and the coordination of their registration as needed.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time role operating Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately schedule surgeries and procedures, ensuring patients are informed of any changes.
  • Update and maintain patient insurance information within their records.
  • Collaborate with Physicians and Management on scheduling strategies.
  • Coordinate with the Patient Services team to ensure a seamless workflow.
  • Assist in training new scheduling staff as required.
  • Communicate equipment availability to the team on a weekly basis.
  • Report incidents following established protocols.
  • Support the development and education of colleagues and new staff.
  • Engage in continuing education to enhance professional skills.
  • Maintain professional relationships with all scheduling staff and coworkers.
  • Contribute to cost management by utilizing resources efficiently.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and data collection.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment through constructive interactions.
  • Attend departmental meetings as required.
  • Serve as a backup for the Patient Services team when necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of medical technology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective interaction at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
